  • Q. What are some of the obvious signs my house or building is settling?

    A. Windows and doors are sticking, hard to open

    • There are large gaps in window and door frames
    • Interior plaster walls are cracking
    • Multiple nail pops are appearing in ceilings and walls
    • Walls are beginning to lean noticeably
    • Window and/or door trim are developing spaces
    • Floors are starting to settle and become uneven
    • Chimneys are tilting or leaning
    • Foundations are sinking
    • Cracks can be seen in foundations or basement walls

  • Q. Why shouldn't I just ignore and patch?

    A. Homes and buildings can tolerate settlement up to ¾" with no signs on the structure. For various reasons, even long after construction is complete, some homes or buildings will continue to settle beyond the acceptable tolerance. So often, owners will patch the brick and or drywall and think the problem is over. Unfortunately, unless the problem is addressed the home or building will continue to settle. The cracks will reopen and all the remedial cost is gone.

  • Q. Are there any government programs that can subsidize the work you do?

    A. Most of our services can be claimed under the Home Renovation Tax Credit.
